This recipe is always a hit with my family unit and friends. I brand information technology without the MSG and onion salt. I always double this recipe, considering it's never enough, use 2 green onions, one one/2 Tblsp. Worchesteshire sauce and the "family size" pack of dried beef. Reserve a fiddling of the beef to roll the brawl in...information technology makes a pretty presentation. Great with wheat crackers!

Yummmm! This is my husband'd favorite year after yr. It'a always the first i gone. This is such good stuff for such an easy recipe to practice. The directions don't say information technology but that y'all have to rinse the salt from the beef first and then chop the beef into tiny pieces. I reserved some of the chopped stale beefiness to roll the finished balls in. Great with veggie sticks, Wheat Thins Big crackers and Triscuit crackers. I made two smaller cheese assurance. A keeper ... great meat and cheese ball recipe!
03/17/2005
Very quick and easy recipe. Delicious. I did go out out monosodium glutamate and used onion powder instead of onion salt. I received tons of compliments on this cheese brawl!
12/04/2002
This is the worst recipe I have ever tried! It sounded great & I made information technology for an Office TEA-it was then bad that anybody threw it out!I knew it didn't taste good to me, simply information technology was to late to do anything merely accept it-I would not recommend anyone trying this, you will be wasting Cream Cheese & Stale Beefiness.
01/04/2001
wonderful!! this is also what I use for "pivot-wheels". just spread thin on tortillas roll up and toss in the refrigerator for a while, slice into little "pin wheels" and lookout your snack tray empty in minutes at any political party!!!!
01/21/2010
I've used a similar recipe for years. I use 2 pkg. cream cheese to stale beef, green onion to gustation and worchestershire sauce. NO table salt or MSG is needed.
12/xx/2001
This family must have been denied salt as children. Every ingredient has common salt. You accept to drink a lot of liquor not to notice this infant's real sense of taste. Yuck!
09/09/2002
This is a wonderful cheeseball! Exactly what I was looking for, and it was a huge hit at my best friend's conjugal shower. I added nigh a teaspoon of horseradish for a petty extra bite.
12/27/2008
I just gave this 4 stars because if I wouldn't have read the reviews of other similar recipes before hand I would have besides added the onion common salt and it would have been too salty. I besides omitted the MSG considering it's just not needed. I've made this before merely just checked the recipe to ensure I had all ingredients right. Its too salty for certain if yous add the onion salt, so I but omit it. You tin can't tell the difference. Sometimes I just add a few more than onions to the mixture. It'southward important to utilise room temperature cream cheese in guild to be able to mix it easily. Easy recipe, great gustatory modality!
02/21/2006
This was wonderful. I took others suggestions and skipped salt & msg and added garlic pulverisation.
11/26/2005
This is a favorite! I altered information technology a little the 2d time I made it. I added viii oz of sour cream, used half-dozen oz of beef and instead of green onion, I used i tablespooon of minced horsey for a little zing! (I omitted the monosodium glutamate) I served it with the new Garlic Butter Ritz crackers! Information technology was gone in no fourth dimension!
12/27/2009
I have been making this recipe for nearly 18 years, (I started when I was a kid with my mom). SANS MSG. Information technology is so expert, it'due south the only cheese ball I brand, and every fourth dimension I take it to a party I always go asked for the recipe. At ane party I had three people calling me throughout the next week asking me for the recipe, I didn't even know any of them they just establish out who made the cheese brawl from the host and called me! Mince up about 2 TBPS of White Onion for a punch of season! Yous will be the celebrity of the party if you bring this!
01/09/2003

11/21/2001

12/29/2010
This was amazing. My sister had made it for me a few times but I had no idea on measurements until I found this on AR. I didn't use the monosodium glutamate or onion salt simply it still tasted just like hers (which included those.) Added another 1/2 onion merely because I love their flavour. I also took the advice of someone else on here and washed the common salt off the stale beef before chopping it upwardly. My four and ane twelvemonth olds besides loved this - will make it again!
11/21/2010
Made a few quick changes - no MSG and simply used chive and onion foam cheese. was simple and piece of cake and tasted delicious!
11/22/2010
I've been making this recipe for years and its E'er a hit! I substitute a few drops of pepper sauce for the worceshire. I see the note about washing the beefiness and I don't agree with that. Use it every bit information technology is. I'm pretty common salt sensitive yet information technology seems simply fine. I don't apply the msg either. This is one of the easiest recipes!
12/21/2009
This has go a vacation tradition for us! My husband loves this cheese ball and drools over the idea of having it at Christmas. :) I don't use the MSG. I do shape information technology into a ball and roll in chopped pecans. Delicious!!!
12/19/2009
Very expert! I have made this for years and my friends and family Beloved IT! Doesn't last xxx minutes at my house. I add a little actress worcestershire sauce and seasoning table salt. Leave out MSG!

Great recipe, but if you value the health of your brain PLEASE omit the MSG! It is a neuro-toxin/exito-toxin that you should avoid at all toll! Exercise some research!
04/07/2003
This (minus the MSG) was a hitting at my Grandmother's surprise 65th birthday party. I thought it was ok...simply everyone else seemed to enjoy it! There were not any leftovers!
01/06/2010
I Omitted the MSG, added garlic powder instead of onion salt. I also employ this recipe equally a filler for pin wheels.

06/25/2010
I left out the monosodium glutamate, but it was dandy!
04/25/2000
This stuff is the best. It rocks.
12/21/2007
Smashing tasting cheese brawl. Peradventure the person who gave this a bad rating had used not and so good foam cheese. I personally like to use the very thin sliced chipped beef or ham(both are practiced) cutting into very small squares and soaked in worchestershire sauce. I too roll the ball in the aforementioned beefiness or ham. Everyone loves it!
12/thirty/2010
Made this for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved it!
xi/23/2002
This was a tasty, quick titbit!
12/22/2011
I looked this recipe up because I had lost my original recipe. I'g using this on Christmas Eve - minus the MSG. After reading the reviews, I wanted to country that I am not a salt lover. I volition not be adding the salt or MSG, and I Ever rinse the dried beef before calculation. Always turns out perfect for me this way. If you want to get extra randy with it...substitute the Worcestershire sauce for Tobasco or Texas Pete. Thanks for posting this recipe! I feared the hubby would be going without this twelvemonth. :)
xi/07/2010
Information technology was good, and I'll make it again. However, even with the substitution of onion powder for the onion salt, it was crazy-salty. Next time, I'll soak the beefiness in water or milk to leach out some of the salt kickoff. And I'll cut the onion pulverization in half. I adopt the taste of the fresh green onions. Practiced foundation recipe. :)
02/07/2010
I've been making this for years with a twist to it, no msg... plus I add a tsp of horseradish, gives information technology a punch and everyone loves it.
x/30/2010
Ever a hit at family gatherings.
x/26/2011
This is a hit at all my get togethers. I go out out the MSG, and I too, rinse the beef before chopping it. Instead of making a "brawl" out of information technology, I shape it into a pocket-sized loaf. Serve with wheat thins, considering they aren't very salty.
07/03/2010
My mother has fabricated something similar this before. I changed it upwardly a bit, by taking out the msg and onion table salt, and added shredded italian cheese, garlic powder and italian seasoning.
05/fifteen/2010
This dip was so salty, and then when you spread it on crackers it was just too much to take. I would brand it again but use one-half of the stale beef or perhaps utilize some other meat.
12/13/2009
I always take this cheese ball to our annual Christmas party and every year information technology's the starting time thing gone! I do brand a few minor changes. I don't utilize the MSG and instead of onion salt I apply garlic salt. Later on I brand the ball I place it in plastic wrap and form it into a ball then allow it chill in the fridge. After a few hours I pull it out and scroll it in a bowl of sliced almonds for a pretty and delicious presentation. It'southward a hitting!
05/02/2005
it is great and goes over groovy for big groups of people
12/22/2001
Exellent cheeseball! So tasty, then piece of cake to do, and with ingredients that are so easy to observe in the grocery shop! This tastes better as each solar day goes by! I surrounded it with Ritz crackers, and it was a hitting! I did even so, omit the MSG.If y'all are looking for an all-around, classic cheeseball that is easy to make, and easy to send, this is it! Even people who normally don't like cream cheese or drief beefiness loved this! A keeper!r
12/30/2001
I've been using this same recipe for years. Information technology's ever a hit at gatherings. I don't use the monosodium glutanate, and sometimes I add together a piddling garlic salt instead of onion salt. Either mode, it's very proficient.
12/17/2011
I like to rinse and dry beef in a paper towel this will cutting downwardly on common salt, instead of onion salt i like to use garlic pulverization (or fresh) and but use emphasis if making couple days ahead. My son who dont ordinarily eat this kind of stuff loves it.
12/15/2002
This was a very nice basic recipe that I played with a little and came upwards with a winner. I doubled the recipe, simply didn't have more chipped beef, and so I used the Buddig corned beef that comes in a packet. Also, the onion salt didn't add enough flavour for me, and then I added almost a i/2 teaspoon of garlic salt every bit well. I used boosted chopped beefiness and pressed it onto the outside, forth with some dried parsley, that made a nice presentation. Yummy!
07/04/2003
If you like dried beef, you'll LOVE this cheese ball. It is a little salty though. The next time, I remember I'll try washing the stale beef before I chop it or perhaps buy the lower sodium dried beefiness. Too, I added 1/iv tsp. onion powder instead of onion common salt. This recipe does not demand any added common salt of any kind! I also added ane/4 tsp. of garlic pulverisation for added season. My girl and I beloved this dip and will definitely brand information technology over again!!
09/03/2009
I have been making this for our Christmas Eve Party for about ten years and information technology is e'er a massive hit. I cannot believe someone rated this as atrocious! I can but say that they must have really screwed it up, which seems incommunicable. This recipe, or one very close to it since we always add a piffling garlic pulverisation, was so pop with my sis in United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland that we have to mail her care packages of stale beef so she tin arrive back dwelling house.
01/27/2003
My Mom had a similar recipe a few years agone that we misplaced, so I was really glad to come across this recipe. I fabricated it on New year, and I didn't accept whatsoever leftovers.
11/30/2000
This was a great dip! I can't believe how perfect information technology turned out. I did make a few revisions for my own tastes. I left out the monosodium glutamate and substituted imitation bacon bits for the beef. I received many, many compliments. Thanks!
04/xxx/2007
I have used this recipe over the years and it is succulent. I also add together 2 cups of cheedar cheese and green onions to it. I do not use MSG.
12/10/2009
Similar most people, I left out the MSG. I also added 1/4 loving cup sour cream, to make information technology softer.
08/17/2001
I thought this recipe was bully. I took it to work and none of it was left. The only change I made was to leave out the MSG.
12/29/2001
I added a loving cup of shredded precipitous chedder cheese. It was a hit at our holiday political party!
01/20/2009
Very adept. Nosotros have this at every Thanksgiving. I remove the MSG.
09/19/2005
This is a great cheese ball. I likewise use onion pulverisation instead of common salt and leave out the MSG...information technology'southward just not necessary. Great with buttery circular crackers!
07/30/2010
This cheese brawl is always a favorate! It is besides dorm/small kitchen friendly. But... I do modify a little bit, instead of onion salt, I use garlic pulverisation since at that place is a lot of saly in the dried scrap beef. I don't use the glutamate... and to make the pieces dainty and minor to more than evenly mix I put them in a small food processor.
03/ten/2004
This was such a yummy cheese brawl. Everyone who tried it couldn't stop eating information technology.
12/21/2002
This is so proficient and easy! I go out out the MSG and merely add a compression of garlic powder. Nifty with Ritz crackers.
08/12/2002
I liked the texture but I think the amount of Worchestershire sauce called for fabricated information technology likewise dominant and salty.
08/14/2000
WARNING!!!! This stuff is addictive, my coworkers love it and and so does my family. I retrieve it tastes all-time on wheat crackers.
03/25/2005
This is the best I accept ever had and have enjoyed for years....
02/22/2004
WAS Not THAT VERY Good LESS ONION AND MSG AND IT WOULD Exist FINE
10/28/2001
This is always a favorite! I ringlet mine in chopped pecans later making the cheese brawl. Splendid
12/16/2011
I thought I'd made a mistake, with and then many high ratings, withal mine tasted NASTY! I double-checked my measurements confronting the recipe - same sizes/weight. I did noticed after the fact the jar said to soak meat in warm water for recipes, which was Not included in the directions. I'one thousand guessing this is i of those dips that one grows upwards on? So if y'all're like me and didn't grow upward eating this, test it in private first. Because I had to add another block of cream cheese, then a bit of sugar to first the however-super-salty taste earlier it was fifty-fifty barely edible. If soaking makes the difference, then this recipe did Non say to do and so.
12/27/2010
I'd give it a 0 if I could. Who makes anything for a family dinner with MSG anymore? This cheese brawl gave my brother a serious migraine.
04/ten/2003
We've used a similar recipe for years only I misplaced it and used this i recently. I left out the MSG and added a little garlic powder. It's not bad with wheat thins!
12/29/2001
Anybody loves this cheese brawl. I don't add together the MSG, merely it tastes great. I e'er double the recipe because it does not brand plenty.
10/18/2006
I add chopped pimentos to this cheeseball to give more of the "ruby" and "green" colors for Christmas. My daughter gets downright upset if at that place isn't one on the titbit tabular array at Christmas!
09/thirteen/2011
I used this at a party before and it is wonderful and goes over very well!
11/10/2011
Love this for parties. I never apply the monosodium glutamate.
08/06/2002
The dried beefiness scared me at outset, but this recipe was awesome! Will be a regular titbit at my house. (but never with MSG)
11/27/2010
The other ladies are right - don't add the onion salt or MSG. Make it the dark before and your favors will have time to meld. I similar to roll in parmesan cheese.
04/x/2000
A actually quick and easy recipe. Information technology's always been a favorite with our family!!
10/25/2007
This was an easy recipe to brand and most people liked it. I don't know if I would make this to accept to a political party again.
12/26/2010
This cheese brawl is always a hit. I use cherry-red onions instead of green. I add a little bit of horseradish and do not use monododium glutamate. I also use a lilliputian extra Worcestershire sauce.
01/01/2009
I didn't use the MSG. Even afterward rinsing all the beef, I all the same plant this likewise salty. I recommend using onion pulverisation not onion table salt.
11/09/2004
This recipe was outstanding! I added chives and rolled the finished ball in chopped pecans. A real crowd pleaser!
11/08/2009
Merely average (followed recommendations to add garlic powder and omit MSG). No big flavour in this recipe. Won't make information technology again
eleven/29/2000
squeamish and like shooting fish in a barrel! My first cheeseball recipe and it was delicious.
12/20/2002
This then far is the all-time cream cheese & stale beefiness version
05/31/2001
This cheese ball was a hit. I doubled the recipe, omited the MSG, and only used ii-2.five oz. pkgs. of stale beef since that's the size they came in. I also rolled the cheese ball in dried parsley and dill (though fresh would be good too). Very delicious and easy.
xi/23/2011
Accept fabricated this recipe (without the MSG) for years and it's always a huge striking! I also substitute garlic pulverization for the onion common salt as at that place'south plenty of salt in the beef.
10/15/2014
I have been using this recipe for over 20 years. Mine is a little different. I do not apply the MSG why would you? I use 1 tsp. garlic table salt and use a pocket-sized minced onion and put 3 tablespoons of sour cream into the mixture. Then I cut picayune squares of dried beef and cover the outside to make it prettier.
02/01/2004
Big hit evertime I brand it!! Yummmmm. I cease information technology off, by saving enough of dried beefiness cutting into little pieces & doing a mosaic on the outside of the ball. (I use the Cheap - but very adept - store brand in the lunchmeat section)
02/09/2001
Excellent
01/25/2009
Easy and delicious. This is probably my favorite kind of cheese ball. It was a big hitting at the party.
01/02/2003
This is Not bad, anybody loved it. I will be making this a lot!!!
12/25/2008
I was happy to observe this recipe on this spider web site!!! We made a couple of changes... Omitted the MSG Didn't add together the stale beef (couldn't discover it at the local grocery) Put it in a bowl instead of forming into a ball
04/27/2008
Then Yummy!!! I fabricated just every bit the recipe stated without the MSG.
12/30/2006
I didn't have onion salt, so I used onion powder and added garlic powder. Instead of MSG I added a tiny fleck of season common salt. This recipe was a HUGE hit at the school Christmas party. Not only did people rave, but I made a double batch that was virtually completely gone--at a pot luck, even! It's super piece of cake and people loved it! I volition DEFINITELY make this over again!
05/17/2012
Best cheese ball ever! I started making this well-nigh four years ago and e'er since then i take been asked to make it for every family unit gathering. i even double the recipe and nigh of the fourth dimension i need to make ii. Never whatsoever leftovers. I never us the MSG.
01/14/2012
Very practiced. I similar to leave out the msg.
01/06/2009
Great recipe, but I used more green onions and omitted the monosodium glutamate. I would let the cheese brawl sit down overnight so the flavors meld.
12/12/2011
my but question is why on earth would u want to add a product that is something near people are conspicuously want to avoid? MSG? Other than that skillful recipe..advice leave out the MSG.
11/eighteen/2005
It was style too salty. We ended up throwing it all away.
01/07/2012
I unremarkably love Dried Beefiness Cheese Ball, simply this was very salty as written. The dried beef provides enough of salt. I would suggest substituting the onion table salt with onion powder or stale chopped onion. I left out the MSG for obvious reasons. The next time I make this I plan on doubling the cream cheese then adding minor amounts of the dried beef and onion powder until the saltiness is tolerable.
01/01/2005
Awesome!I tripled and froze two for those treat days at work that sneak up on you lot. Omitted green onion and msg, and used onion pulverization in stead of onion salt, equally I find it'due south salty plenty. Rolled in finely chopped walnuts. Co-workers snarfed this down!
10/01/2007
It was good except for the overpowering gustation of the Worchestershire sauce. I think if you cut that back to a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon it might not feel like you are drinking it from the bottle. I liked that the recipe was simple and like shooting fish in a barrel to practise.
11/02/2004
I left out the monosodum glutamate and used garlic salt in identify of onion salt. All-time if refrigerated overnight.
04/07/2012
RINSE THE Beefiness! If yous use the existent DRIED BEEF, rather than the cheaper smoked beefiness, it is very salty. I ruined a double batch by not rinsing. Information technology was just to terribly salty. Headed back to store for more than beef and rinsed it. Ahhh, success. I don't use MSG. I did pick up some horseradish the second trip to the grocery shop and added a bit. Emmm, good. The dark-green onions are a must. They add nice colour and a flake of sugariness. I employ all of the onion, white and green. This is then addictive. I've had before merely never fabricated. At piece of work there was a comport-in for Easter and I could take sat down with a spoon and consumed the whole affair. I asked for the basic receipe, stopped at the shop and then checked out allrecipes.com. This is a winner!
02/19/2012
This is our favorite cheeseball recipe! Whenever the family says they're making cheeseball, this is always the one that has been fabricated from every bit far dorsum as I can recall. Ive made others only this always seems to be the classic that you lot can't become without. I dont use the msg. It simply depends, merely sometimes the amounts of the green onions and worchestershire sauce are upped :) We always roll the exterior in more than chipped beefiness. Keen cheeseball served with veggies and crackers!
04/17/2012
I make mine without the MSG. I utilize garlic powder in it instead cause information technology is much healthier than msg.
03/31/2005
This is very skillful. I don't add MSG (why would y'all??). I always double the recipe considering there is never plenty with my family unit, they all enjoy it!
